From time to time, instead of my usual email with one big idea you can read in 3 minutes or less, I share with you the best of what I’m reading, watching, and exploring. Enjoy!

Books

Ceremony by Brianna Wiest. Not your average self-help book. It’s a beautifully penned collection of essays and poems that tackle everything from the messy heartaches of love to the quiet joys of gratitude. It’s short, it’s sweet, and it’s stunning.

Films

Dune: Part Two (2024). [HBO Max | Amazon Prime] I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I was blown away. With its stunning visuals and edge-of-your-seat storytelling, it’s one of the best sci-fi films I’ve seen in recent memory. This film picks up right where the previous one left off, so you’ll want to brush up on Part One or read the book first—otherwise, you will be lost.

Blow Out (1981). [Amazon Prime | Apple TV+] I often like to step back from the onslaught of new releases and dive into older films. This one is a gripping thriller from the 80s starring John Travolta in one of his best roles (it inspired Quentin Tarantio to cast Travolta in Pulp Fiction). It masterfully combines suspense with a political conspiracy, topped with an ending you will never forget.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024). [Netflix] Eddie Murphy is back and hasn’t missed a beat. It’s fun, it’s cheeky, and it’s like catching up with an old friend who hasn’t aged a day (Seriously, what’s his secret?).

Shows

Dark Matter. [Apple TV+] If you’ve ever wondered about the road not taken, Dark Matter turns that curiosity up to eleven. Based on one of my all-time favorite sci-fi novels, this series takes you on a wild ride through the multiverse. I loved it.

Music

Messy by Olivia Dean. Amazing R&B album with soulful beats and introspective lyrics. Check out the first track on the album, “UFO”, to get a flavor of the amazingness in store.
