From time to time, instead of my usual email with one big idea you can read in 3 minutes or less, I share with you the best of what I’m reading, watching, and exploring. Enjoy!

Books

Love Life by Rob Lowe. After enjoying Lowe’s first memoir, I picked up this sequel—and it didn’t disappoint. Turns out, Lowe isn’t just a pretty face from the Brat Pack era; he’s got real storytelling chops. This one’s candid, vulnerable, and surprisingly funny. Thanks to David Moldawer for the recommendation.

Shows

Shogun. [Hulu] If you’re into historical dramas rich in substance and spectacle, this is a must-watch. Picture yourself in 17th-century Japan: an English sailor lost in a world of samurai and shoguns, complete with stunning scenery and sword fights. It’s a slow burn, but a gorgeous one.

Disclaimer. [Apple TV+] An amazing edge-of-your-seat roller coaster, and Cate Blanchett is driving. She plays a journalist whose past comes back to haunt her in unexpected ways. The twists will toy with your mind and the suspense will keep you on your toes.

Shrinking Season 2. [Apple TV+] The latest season of this dramedy is as good as the first. Harrison Ford is the grumpy-but-lovable therapist, Jessica Williams is charming as ever, and Jason Segel is the hot mess with a heart. It’s a mix of tears and laughter, all wrapped up in the beautiful messiness of being human. Who knew therapy could be this fun?

Films

My Old Ass (2024). [Amazon Prime] Imagine dropping some psychedelics and coming face-to-face with your future self. My Old Ass does just that—and it’s trippy, funny, and oddly touching.

Swallow (2020). [Amazon Prime | Apple TV+] A disturbing exploration of control, autonomy, and the human need to feel power over one’s own life. Haley Bennett delivers an incredible performance that draws you into her character’s silent struggle. It’s not an easy watch, but it’s a great one.

Longlegs (2024). [Amazon Prime | Apple TV+] This thriller about a serial killer doesn’t just hook you—it yanks you in, ties you up, and makes you question your life choices for watching it at night. Nicolas Cage is at peak Cage: part unhinged, part hypnotic, and 100% unsettling. It’s a masterclass in suspense, but also a masterclass in “How is Nicolas Cage this good at being creepy?”

Music

Infinite Health by Tycho. Dreamy electronic beats that are perfect for late-night reflections or lazy Sunday afternoons. I saw him in concert recently and was blown away.
